Now that you have selected your 2010 prom dress and hair style, you will want to add a few accessories that will make you stand out from the rest. Most girls will need to carry some type of purse. As an accessory to a formal gown, your prom purse should be as small and sleek as possible, just large enough to carry essentials like your ID, cash, cell phone, small compact, breath mints, prom tickets, etc. Prom dress purses are usually either of a clutch or handbag variety. A clutch is a small purse that has no strap or handle, so you must keep one of your hands free at all times. This can put a damper on your enjoyment of the evening, and amid all the excitement of prom festivities, it is so easy to set it down somewhere and forget it. If you plan to carry a clutch, seriously consider checking it at the door.
A handbag may be a better choice. For a formal gown, a small handbag with long, slim strap or light chain is ideal. This you can drape over your shoulder throughout the evening to get the full benefit of it as an accessory to your 2010 prom dress. You can choose either a matching or contrasting color that complements your dress. Fabric purses like satin are elegant and ribbons, rhinestones or jewels, and feathers are fashionable as long as they complement your 2010 prom dress style, jewelry and hair accessories.
Prom is the one occasion where large jewelry items are suitable and usually, the flashier the better. Rhinestones are always a favorite and they go with almost any dress and purse style. If your 2010 prom dress has a plunging neckline, you can wear a long, wide necklace that spreads out over your neck and chest. If you have a higher neckline, you can choose a short necklace that consists of large pearls or other jewels. Sparkly bracelets and rings are also nice additions to any dress style. If your hair will be worn up, try to find some long, dangling earrings with plenty of sparkle. If your hair will be down, wear hoops or a non-dangling variety that will not get caught in your hair. You can also add a few sparkly accessories to your hair. Rhinestone or jeweled clips are a nice touch, and of course, if you are choosing any kind of “Princess” theme, a tiara is almost a “must.”
Even if you are normally conservative in your fashion style, don’t be afraid to go all out with your 2010 prom accessories. How many times does a girl get to wear a tiara and jewels in our modern world? This night will be a magical experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. Tomorrow you can go back your jeans, but for tonight, you are a princess! |
